About
Nils Ehle

Nils Ehle is an AI Business Transformation expert with more than 23 years of experience turning technology ambition into measurable business value. As Founder and CEO of Change Orange, he works with Fortune 500 corporations, leading family-owned businesses, and consulting firms to move from AI strategy and experimentation to implementation, adoption, and enterprise-wide impact.

A Journey Through Transformation

Nils began his career as a consultant in the automotive and energy sectors. A major turning point came in 2012, when he was asked to build and lead an international business transformation unit across E.ON's twelve country markets, working directly with country CEOs and the Group Board member responsible for Customer Solutions.

That experience exposed a recurring challenge: technology was often treated as an IT responsibility disconnected from the business problems it was meant to solve. Nils recognized the need to connect strategy, technology, people, and implementation.

He later helped establish a cross-company innovation hub in Germany's Ruhr region, bringing around 80 organizations, including direct competitors, together to collaborate on innovation. In 2015, he founded Change Orange alongside his corporate role. Today, it is his full focus.

AI Business Transformation

Nils supports organizations across the entire AI transformation journey, helping businesses move from strategy and experimentation toward implementation, adoption, and measurable impact.

His applied expertise is structured around four pillars: Direction, Value Creation, Enablement, and Governance and Performance.

Direction includes AI strategy and transformation workshops, the AI Business Readiness Assessment, and AI-powered business model innovation. Value Creation includes the AI Innovation Sprint and AI Use Case Engine, helping organizations identify, benchmark, and prioritize AI and RPA use cases.

Enablement includes AI Kickstarter town halls, Xponential You Foundation and Master Class programs, AI Leadership Empowerment, and workforce transformation. Governance and Performance includes AI governance, portfolio management, the AI Transformation Scorecard, and responsible AI frameworks including EU AI Act readiness.

Conscious AI Innovation

A central challenge Nils focuses on is the persistent gap between experimentation and impact, what he describes as the "PoC graveyard."

Organizations are rarely short of ideas or technology. What they often lack is strategic alignment, clear ownership, effective governance, leadership capability, and a structured path from promising use cases to scalable solutions.

Nils' philosophy, Conscious AI Innovation, is built on five principles: AI should remain a tool in service of human purpose; transformation should be people-first rather than AI-first; adoption should be business and team led; organizations should protect their human character; and AI should expand rather than replace human creativity and agency.

He describes the working method as Artificial Narrow Intelligence alongside General Human Intuitive Intelligence. AI contributes speed, structure, and analytical depth, while people contribute purpose, imagination, empathy, and responsibility.

Notable Engagements

Infomotion: Nils is leading the holistic transformation of one of Germany's leading data performance consultancies into a Data and AI consulting company and ultimately an AI-native enterprise, spanning business model, processes, leadership mindset, capabilities, governance, and ways of working.

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine: He led the redesign of the global digital supply chain organization, completed within one year without interrupting day-to-day operations. His approach, called "change on the run," enables people to step into new roles early and shape structures from within.

HDI Insurance: He led the design and implementation of a new enterprise operating model for approximately 800 employees in twelve months, including end-to-end SAFe implementation at execution and portfolio level.

He has also delivered AI innovation sprints and prototyping initiatives for Volkswagen, Vorwerk, Fraunhofer, Motus, and innogy, as well as executive transformation programs for Union Investment, AOK, GKVI, and Baerlocher.

Recognition and Credentials

Nils is a nominee for the CXO 2.0 Conference Business Leadership Excellence Award and has been featured in Business Magazine UAE. He has also delivered keynotes at international events hosted by IBM and Teradata.

His credentials include MIT Professional Education certification in Designing and Building AI Products and Services, Certified AI-Native Change Agent, and SAFe Practice Consultant. He studied Business Economics at the University of Hohenheim.

He is the author of the forthcoming book The AI Innovation Sprint: Turn Big Ideas into AI Business Solutions in Just Two Days and the white paper Effective Leadership in the Age of AI.

Leadership and Advice

Nils encourages emerging leaders to start with real business problems rather than fashionable tools and to learn by building.

His perspective is that AI should help people process more information without removing thinking, judgment, or responsibility from human decision-making.

His long-term mission is to make Human-in-the-Lead a widely adopted principle for how organizations design, govern, and scale AI.
